My passion for cars goes a long way (courtesy of my father), and extends beyond the fringes of what can be considered "normal". Take for example the Rat Rod. This is a style of hot rod, that in most cases, exaggerates the early hot rods of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. It should not be confused with the somewhat closely related "traditional" hot rod.
Key about the rat rod is that it must appear "unfinished" (wether they are or not), with just the bare essentials to be driven (mine to include a A/C however). The car is the visualization of the idea of function over form and they are meant to be driven, not just shown off. Interiors are often just a bomber seat or a large beach towel. Common drive trains are the flathead V8 or straight-8s (and straight-6s). And to have the correct front suspension look, one must use a beam axle
Below you can see a short video of the Welderup Rat City Rukkus cruise.
I am still searching for that Ford '46. In the meantime, the name "Piss'd Off Pete" has been reserved for my other hot rod.
