Ever seen a 911 do a wheelie?

A while back we organized a successful fundraiser around the 50th anniversary celebration of Porsche's iconic 911 model. As often is the case, I did extensive research and made a booklet to commemorate the event. Needless to say, I read a lot of material and saw a great deal of 911's, but when I saw the picture on the right a couple of days ago, it made me do a double-take.

Who goes out of their way to spend that kind of money on a Porsche 977 to make it do a wheelie?

Chances are you have heard of the name EKANOO or E. Kanoo Racing. Mr. Ebrahim Kanoo is one of the Middle East's leading headline grabbers in the drag racing scene. He owns the fastest Supra in the world and the outlaw 10.5 Supra, which just ran the quarter mile in just 6.05 seconds at 240 mph, and several other super fast cars.

One of their latest creations is the world's fastest 977 Turbo Tiptronic Porsche (see pict on the Right and time slip).
The Porsche boasts:
- 1000 hp and tops out at 223 mph
- ADV1 21" wheels
- Techart GT Street Body
- Evoms built 3.8i Motor, GT3 cams
- Evoms custom Inter Coolers
- Custom Y-pipe, exhaust system, transmission, and torque converter

Hailing from the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mr. Kanoo's vision is to create a name for themselves by breaking all the records while amassing a wealth of knowledge over time, and then putting this to good use while going up against the world's best drag racers stateside. And with the help of engine builder and legendary door-slammer racer Pat Musi, they are well on their way.

Having extensively traveled throughout the region and not wanting to get into politics, I must applaud the leaders for constantly wanting to push the boundaries. Whether it is in technology, construction or racing, these folk surround themselves with the best minds available and then shoot for the stars. Watch out!
