When watching Formula One races, be sure you are watching the channel with the right commentators!
In an effort to boost American viewer-ship ahead of the GP of the Americas, the German Hockenheim GP was televised by Fox, instead of SpeedTV but delayed till noon.
Being a person of habit, I opted to watch it live on Fox, but in Spanish.
Well, the commentators did their job but had no where near the level of expertise of a Bob Varsha, David Hobbs, or Steve Matchett.
On lap 41/67, as Jenson Button's tire performance dropped he pitted for new tires. As the pit stop was taking place, the commentators were oblivious of the fact that the McLaren crew had just pulled off the fastest pit stop in competition history. They swapped four tires on the McLaren in mere 2.31 seconds, all the while the commentators were chatting about something else.
Luckily I occasionally check Jalopnik for great stories. I had recognized it as a fast pit stop but didn't get numbers. To watch the video of the pit stop, please click here.
Thanks for reading.
