While doing research for McLaren's inclusion in FULTROT's F1 Top 10 best teams, I came across this video about the team's 50th anniversary (2013). Former McLaren team mates Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard reunited to drive some of their former team's classic cars. Luckily for us, the BBC was on hand to film for a special feature.
Hakkinen, pictured on the right, was reunited with the MP-13 he and DC obliterated the field with. Hakkinen would go on to win the 1998 world championship with in one. He also got to drive one of my favourite cars, a M23 similar to the one used by Emerson Fitipaldi and James Hunt to win the championships in 1974 and 1976. The M23 was a development of the McLaren M16 Indianapolis 500 car.
Coulthard drove the MP4-23 of 2008, which was his last year in F1 with McLaren. That was also the same year in which his old team mate Lewis Hamilton won the driver's championship. Later on that glorious day, Coulthard got to drive McLaren's most successful car, the MP4-4. It won 15 out of 16 races in 1988.
