The most exciting form of circuit motor racing to me is without a doubt MotoGP. If you're unfamiliar with it, below you will find a good intro to the sport.
"Fastest" is the latest full-length feature film from director Mark Neale, who's also shot "Faster" and "The Doctor, The Tornado and the Kentucky Kid". Narrated by Ewan McGregor, "Fastest" was shot around the world in 2010 and 2011 and captures the intense and thrilling reality of the MotoGP World Championship.
Quoting from MotoGP.com: "With Valentino Rossi chasing his tenth World Championship title the italian ran into one of the toughest challenges of his carreer: a crop of exceptionally fast young competitors, a horrific leg break at his home race, and an amazing comeback little over 40 days later".
What makes MotoGP, the highest form of two-wheel racing, so exciting is the sheer racing drama. One can be leading the race but get passed by two riders in the last lap and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.
The late Marco Simoncelli, the rising star who died earlier this year in a freak racing accident, said the following on the camaraderie within the sport: "During the race you want to kill the other rider, but after the race you go to drink...have beer together".
Watch the promo and if you ever stumble across a MotoGP race on the television, watch it. I promise that you won't be disappointed. But be careful, you might get hooked on the sport.
