A while back we got word that the dyno room at Jon Kaase Racing Engines would run an entirely different kind of engine. The shop renowned for its high performance drag race engines was contracted to do some R&D on the X132 Hellcat Speedster by Confederate Motorcycles.
When one looks at the bike (see pict on the right) it seems as if there is more engine than there is bike. And there is, with a big 132 cubic inch V twin of their own design which allegedly puts out 140 pounds of torque and some 121 horsepower. A few years back a Hellcat used a similar engine at Bonneville to set a new speed record. The engine uses fuel injection with an ECU that is better suited for the strip. Luckily the X132 has a five speed transmission that uses drag racing ratios as well.
As a customer of Kaase's small inconspicuous engine shop in Winder, Georgia, first with an 822" and now with a 762" engine, I can attest that they're truly the best at squeezing every last pony out of a drag race engine. Just imagine what they'll do to this bad boy.
Best to reserve yours now, for Confederate are only building 65 bikes. Price tag: USD 65,000. Oh yeah, last year they brought in this French dude called Pierre Terblanche to freshen the Speedster. Terblanche has had a long career in motorcycle design, amongst others with the Italian powerhouse of Ducati, and earlier with Cagiva.
