What happened over the weekend

In NHRA:
The Winternationals at Pomona saw Spencer Massey earn his seventh career Top Fuel victory. In Funny Car, the legendary John Force won over team-mate Mike Neff (who said he was distracted..C'mon man!). In Pro Stock, Greg Anderson raced to his 71st career victory, beating Jeg Coughlin's new Mopar machine. Remember that Coughlin is using engines out of his own engine shop in North Carolina.
The season opener also saw Funny Car rookie Courtney win her first round.

Top Alcohol driver Mike Austin escaped injury on Saturday in the first round of eliminations when his car suddenly swerved, sailed over the right-side guard wall and skidded until it came to rest next to the scoring tower at the end of the track. See the video: here

In WRC:
Ford's Jari Matti Latvala wins the Swedish Rally, 16.6 seconds up on his former team-mate and Citroen rival Mikko Hirvonen. Mads Ostberg completes the podium ahead of Petter Solberg and Evgeny Novikov.
