The 24 hrs of Daytona - 2013 race

JPM in the winning #01 DP
For those of us who followed the race on TV, wasn't that a good race? I mean, after 24 hours, it was still a race to the finish line.

Ex-F1 driver, Juan Pablo Montoya ruffled some feathers on his way to the checkered flagin the 01 car, giving his teammate Scot Pruett his fifth overall win. Car owner Chip Ganassi was elated when the Colombian crossed the finish line, as were JPM's teammates Dixon, Charlie Kimball, and Memo Rojas.

The winning GT Audi
In GT it was a first and second for Audi while Porsche took the GX win. For more information about the race, please click here.

I remember going to the race back in the early nineties and I must say that nowadays the crowd is considerably larger. The infield looked crammed with fans as was the grid walk before the start (a carry over from Nascar and NHRA). Thus, a two thumbs up for the organizers.

Oh well, if your a fan of endurance racing, the next race is the 24 Heures du Mans, scheduled to take place on June 22-23. Fore more information, please click here.

Thanks for reading. See you at the races.
