A great award

Earlier this year I visited the "Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum" in Pomona, California, where I snapped the picture below. It is of an award given to Kurt Johnson as the first Pro Stock driver to break into the six seconds.

The award itself is of a gold-plated Holley four-barrel carburator atop a mahogany base. What a great idea for an award.

We have been practicing the sport of drag racing for more than forty years now in Curacao. Isn't it time we started consolidating our efforts and raising our organizations' standards to organize greater events with enhanced entertainment, along with better winnings or at least more memorable  awards.

Regarding the latter, I propose we adopt Wally's idea and search for our own identity in a trophy. It could be a gold plated piston atop a tire for first place, silver for second, and bronze for third. Wouldn't that be great!

I for one will sign up to any new or old organization in the quest to better the sport of drag racing in Curacao. We already have all the ingredients necessary to make this happen. Sign me up Scotty!
