Accidents never happen to me - mentality

This 2013 in-car video of drag racer Jon Baker's wreck at the Tennessee Street Outlaw race is a video I've had in the vault for a while. I do not write about this for sensationalism rather for what it can mean to others. Racers have that uncanny ability to think "that will never happen to me". As such, many never pre-program their minds as to the steps that need to be taken in the case something does happen. The action starts at the 3.0 minute mark.

Luckily Jon Baker escaped unhurt from this race accident, thanks due to his safety equipment. He deployed the parachute and killed the power as soon as he was able to.

Always be sure to have keep all of your equipment, especially that regarding safety, up-to-specs. Take good care of them and when in doubt, simple replace. Also, pay close attention to how safety equipment should be used.
