On September 6-7 last, while watching live feed from the
P.D.R.A. race at Rockingham, N.C., I saw an interesting interview with Quain Stott. Quain is a former I.H.R.A. World Champion Pro Mod driver who has toned it down a couple of notches and built himself a cool ride called "Grand Illusion".

Quain Stott's "Grand Illusion" |
Since I've always admired those who venture out on a limb and follow their dreams, Quain's story caught my attention. He dreamed of building himself a period correct gasser, just for the fun of it, and though most advised against it, he went ahead and built it anyway. Much to his surprise, his idea was quickly adopted by a bunch of drivers now all driving period correct gassers. They have even formed the South Eastern Gassers Association and drive around the country to participate in events such as the P.D.R.A.
To illustrate how cool these period correct gassers are, and almost impossible to drive (by modern standards), click
here to watch a video of Quain Scott making an epic save in his '41 Willys.
Thanks for reading.
