The sun has risen on the beaches of Daytona, and with it, the day of the 51st running of the second most important endurance race, Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, has arrived. Be sure to tune in at 15:00 hrs ET on SpeedTV for full coverage. Race starts at 15.30 hrs ET.
Here is a short teaser, by Continental Tires and Mad Media.
Last year I wrote a piece on the 24 hours of Daytona. To revisit it, please click here, and get your spotters guide for this year's race here.

One lightning fast pitstop
When watching Formula One races, be sure you are watching the channel with the right commentators!
In an effort to boost American viewer-ship ahead of the GP of the Americas, the German Hockenheim GP was televised by Fox, instead of SpeedTV but delayed till noon.
Being a person of habit, I opted to watch it live on Fox, but in Spanish.
Well, the commentators did their job but had no where near the level of expertise of a Bob Varsha, David Hobbs, or Steve Matchett.
On lap 41/67, as Jenson Button's tire performance dropped he pitted for new tires. As the pit stop was taking place, the commentators were oblivious of the fact that the McLaren crew had just pulled off the fastest pit stop in competition history. They swapped four tires on the McLaren in mere 2.31 seconds, all the while the commentators were chatting about something else.
Luckily I occasionally check Jalopnik for great stories. I had recognized it as a fast pit stop but didn't get numbers. To watch the video of the pit stop, please click here.
