Seven Star Spin

You've got to love RBR, not because they just won their fourth consecutive Drivers' and Constructors' Formula 1 Championships, but for the unconventional way of doing things which are most often far out there in a galaxy of their own!

Don't believe me…how about having their 750 bhp F1 car do donuts and burnouts on the helipad of the Burj Al Arab, which by the way, is 210 meters above the sea (almost 4 times as high as our Juliana brug) and only 24 meters wide. Take a look at the short video below:

As the sun rose over the horizon and immediately started casting shadows over Dubai's landmark buildings, David Coulthard put RBR F1 car through its paces, first with a burnout then with a series of donuts, which must have been a remarkable wake up call for the residents of Dubai. A very different kind of "call to prayers" I'd say.

RB9's manufacturing video

Yesterday's blog was on the coolest looking new F1 car, the RB9. Today's present you the coolest  launch video of a F1 car, actually the RB9 (again Red Bull).

This brilliant video captures the essence of what the cars are made of and how they are build. It is full of high tech processes. Just great stuff.
My favourite part is the building of the transmission gears and levers, and the transmission's assembly. The gears slide smoothly and effortlessly into place.

Enjoy the VIDEO!

The coolest looking 2013 F1 car

The RB9 is up to now the coolest looking new F1 car. The car's purple sidepods made Milton Keynes considerably warmer on Sunday morning, when Adrian Newey's latest "bolide" was unveiled.

Like so many of the latest F1 cars, the RB9 features a stepped nose but without the driver cooling slot. It has a thin carbon fiber fairing, a vanity panel, that other cars have used to disguise the step, but that "it doesn't extend too far forward as then it doesn't justify it in weight". Newey added: "This is very much an evolutionary car... the devil is very much in the detail".

RB9 ENGINE STATS:
Engine: V8-90 degree Renault Engine RS27 - 2013

Schumi takes Pole

Schumi celebrates after taking
pole at Monaco (May 26 2012)
At yesterday's qualifying for the Monaco GP, 43-year-old Michael Schumacher secured pole position after having a smooth qualifying session, and even managed to save two sets of super soft for the race. In the top-ten shootout he put in a great lap to edge out Red Bull Racing's mark Webber by just 0.08 seconds.

"It is simply a wonderful feeling to set pole after such a long time, and particularly here in Monaco. Okay, it has taken a little bit longer than I might have wanted in the second chapter of my career, but that makes it even sweeter. It's just beautiful," stated the seven-time World Champion and now Mercedes Benz Petronas driver.

However, a five place grid position penalty had been levied against Micheal for his accident with Bruno Senna during the last race. He will be starting starting from sixth and will have to rely on his DRS and KERS to get him passed other drivers, if even possible.

We will be watching Michael, all forty-plus folk will be surely pulling for you!
